Videokymography is a high-speed-imaging laryngoscopic method for examination of vibratory behavior of the vocal folds. Currently a new videokymographic camera was developed which improved the former videokymographic technique by allowing simultaneous monitoring of the laryngoscopic and videokymographic images in real-time. For assessment of the findings in patients with voice disorders, an evaluation protocol has been developed for videokymography which allows sorting the vocal fold vibratory patterns within ten categories corresponding to different origins of voice disorders. Furthermore, pictograms were designed that facilitate evaluation of the vibration features visible in videokymograms and allow easier categorization of the findings. The workshop will show the new videokymography technique, provide examples of clinical examinations, explain the different categories of vibration features of the vocal folds and demonstrate the use of the new visually-based evaluation protocol for assessment of the clinical findings.
