Additional Laws Supporting the Voice-Ear-Brain Connection

Dorinne S. Davis

The Voice-Ear-Brain Connection was first identified by Dr. Alfred Tomatis in The Tomatis Effect in 1957. The Tomatis Effect is a series of 3 laws that indicate that the voice produces what the ear hears. Recently 2 additional laws, known as The Davis Addendum to the Tomatis Effect were identified. These laws connect 'stressed' frequencies from Spontaneous Otoacoustic Emissions and 'stressed' low frequency vocal frequencies which when addressed with sound intervention bring the voice into coherence.
Twenty four out of 10,000 frequencies from the voice and 30 out of 1000 frequencies from the ear were broken down into a common denominator called brainwave multiples. At least one matched 'stressed' common frequency of the voice and ear was identified in 100% of the samples.
These additional laws help support the importance of The Tree of Sound Enhancement Therapy (R) for identifying which sound-based therapy can make foundational change in how the ear and body processes sound from which the voice can maximize its potential. These sound-based therapies are currently considered as alternative methods for helping the voice reach better timbre, pitch, inflection, and quality.
