Model calculations of horizontal and vertical Vocal Fold Dynamics.

We present model calculations of Vocal Fold Dynamics, both horizontal and vertical. The model is partly based on previous work by Ishizaka and Flanagan, and by Koizumi c.s. It consists of two masses, with the lower mass connected to the wall and the upper mass only connected to the lower mass. Both connections consist of horizontal and vertical non-linear springs and dampers. Additional forces are derived from air pressures in the vocal tract and the glottis. Special attention has been given to the consequences of glottis closure on forces and pressures.
We investigated various settings for the dimensions of the two masses and plan to present the influence of changing the parameters of the mass constants and the dimensions.
