Below you can find some tailor-made excursions which will bring you to the highlights of Belgium. As the congress is situated in Ghent, we laid our focus on this beautiful, colourful city for the half day tours. The full day tours will bring you to the other (most) famous cities of Belgium.

Half Day Tours


 1. Ghent chocolate tour

No visit of Belgium is complete without tasting our famous Belgian chocolate! Experience in this tour how Belgian chocolate is made in an authentic Ghent chocolatier. A Belgian chocolate maker will show you how raw chocolate bars are made into the fine Belgian chocolates using only the best of fresh and carefully selected ingredients. Yes, of course you can taste! Furthermore you’ll enjoy a short guided walk into the medieval city centre of Ghent and pay a visit to the most famous Cathedral in Ghent: Sint-Bavo cathedral. For over a thousand years this cathedral has been a place of prayer and Christian worship. Admire the beautiful architecture and decoration and witness the famous painting “The adoration of the Mystic Lamb” which appears in ‘The Monuments men’ with George Clooney.

2. Ghent beer tour

Experience a fascinating visit to Ghent’s own beer brewery! Discover the brewing process of beer and feel like a real beersommelier while tasting different beers. Alongside the tasters you can enjoy speciality bites of Ghent (cheese Ghent, pate gruut (with Gruut Amber), dry sausage, Breydel bacon, olives and Tierenteynmustard). Beside this beer experience you’ll explore Ghent’s highlights with your guide during a beautiful walk through the medieval traffic-free city centre.

3. Ghent medieval city tour

Ghent has a beautiful history of which the unique skyline with the three grand medieval towers still witnesses. In this tour you’ll go back in time to experience how wonderful the medieval life was for some and how harsh it was for others. You’ll discover the unique medieval scenery of Ghent strolling the narrow streets, passing the Old Port with it’s gabled guild houses, the famous "Row of ThreeTowers," St. Nicolas Church, the Belfry towerand St. Bavo's Cathedral and many other beautiful buildings. The highlight of the tour will be an uncomparable visit of the age-old Castle of Counts with its impressive walls and merlons. When you enter you can let your imagination run wild and discover what practices were used in name of justice or which sword suits you best. The historical collection of weapons in the Castle of the Counts includes one of the finest collections of Flanders.

1. Antwerp, the majestic city

You start your visit in Antwerp with a stop at the world-famous central station with its extraordinary eclectic architecture. Afterwards you’ll stroll alongside the majestic buildings and squares of Antwerp with your guide. After the guided walk you can enjoy some free time in the city centre for lunch, shopping, museum visit… Your guide will be available to give reccomendations, some extra explanation and so on. On your way back you will make a last stop at the MAS to take the elevator up to the ninth floor to enjoy a last marvelous view over the city of Antwerp.

2. Bruges, a medieval Gem

Smaller and more contained than many other Flemish cities, Bruges gives the impression that you have stepped back in time to the 14th century. In the old city where your guide will walk you through the narrow, twisting cobbled streets, past picturesque views of ancient buildings, tree-lined canals and gabled facades. Stroll through the bustling marketplace; see the Belfry Tower, the Town Hall and the Chapel of the Holy Blood. Discover another aspect of the city during what will undoubtedly be the highlight of your tour, a 30-minute canal boat ride. While sitting back in a small boat, you can enjoy the serene waterways of this romantic historic city. After some free time to explore on your own, re-board your motor coach for the return journey to one of Bruges competitor cities in the Middle Ages: Ghent.

3. Brussels, the capital of Belgium

Enjoy a panoramic city bus tour past the most important sites and monuments of this Belgian capital. Highlights include St. Michael's Cathedral, the Atomium monument, the Centenaire halls, the basilica of Koekelberg, the Royal Palace, European Community Headquarters and the Arch of the Cinquantenaire. After lunch, continue to the breathtaking Grand Place in the heart of Brussels. Seven streets lead into this historic market square dominated by the magnificent Town Hall and its soaring tower. A few blocks away you'll see the famed Manneken Pis, the whimsical fountain depicting a small boy. Then, enjoy some free time to explore the Grand Place, browse through the shops or relax in one of the stylish cafés before returning to the motor coach for the return journey to Ghent.
